On behalf of our Board of Advisors, I invite you to Read to Succeed’s signature holiday event. This year we will be celebrating the season starting with a reception at Providence Performing Arts Center’s Marquis Room followed by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra performing holiday classics with world-renowned conductor Keith Lockhart. By joining us you will be gifting the life-improving opportunity for Providence students to earn a college
scholarship when they commit to summer reading. Evidence of Read to Succeed’s impact is certainly in the numbers:
- 32,244 free books distributed to Providence students
- $3,558,000 in scholarships awarded, to include $422
,000 in October!
- $610,000 in scholarships have been applied to college expenses
- 93 colleges and universities nationwide have enrolled Read to Succeed students
By participating in this event, you are our partner in delivering a program that not only improves reading skills over the summer and instills a life-long interest in reading, you are investing in the full potential of hundreds of Providence students with limited resources. In 2025 alone, 613 students received 3,678 free books to read this summer. This fall,
422 students will earn their $1,000 scholarship for college by reading their books, a 69% completion rate. This alone is a reason to celebrate this holiday season! We look forward to seeing you on December 13th with the Boston Pops!
