Join us for A Christmas Carol

On behalf of our Board of Advisors, we invite you to celebrate a nearly 50-year-old Rhode Island holiday tradition with Read to Succeed. For the first time, Trinity Repertory Company’s A Christmas Carol will be hosted by Providence Performing Arts Center. We invite you to join us for Read to Succeed’s annual Hotel Providence Reception and this special production of A Christmas Carol on Tuesday, December 3rd.

When financial hardship struck Charles Dickens’ family, at the age of twelve he was forced to sell his book collection, leave school and enter the labor force. This experience shaped his strong views about education reform, childhood poverty and injustice. To reach the broadest number of people about his social concerns, Dickens wrote a Christmas narrative.

As we experience this classic production from a different stage, the power of partnership is featured by these two Rhode Island cultural institutions. It reminds us that Read to Succeed is based on partnerships with five Providence schools so that a record 619 Providence students can benefit from our unique and powerful mission. This is an ideal time to give thanks to our partners — Bishop McVinney School, Community Preparatory School, Highlander Charter School, San Miguel School and Sophia Academy — as we rely upon them to reach the broadest number of students within our abilities.

By participating in our Hotel Providence Reception and this special production of A Christmas Carol at Providence Performing Arts Center, you are an important partner in delivering a program that improves reading skills over the summer, provides scholarships for college, and creates a brighter future for hundreds of Providence students each year. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Best wishes,

David Guertin

Executive Director
